Short films that fit into the short formats of TikTok have become very popular on the platform. However, ‘‘17/21’’ has a very dark side to it, inspired by the stories I got to learn about.

It’s supposed to represent the reoccuring issue of elders grooming minors and start a conversation about it. ‘‘They only want you when you’re 17’’ - At 17 most teenagers aren’t fully aware of who they are and have under-developed personalities. Groomers take advantage of that. Especially kids with traumatic childhoods are very vulnurable to this. ‘‘But when you’re 21, you’re no fun’’ - Once they have their own will and become their own person, groomers lose interest, because they can’t control them anymore and they’re not dependent on them.
